World Heritage Castle Break
Ruthin Castle is listed as one of the iron ring of North Wales Castles
Ruthin Castle is listed as one of the iron ring of North Wales castles, a group created by Edward I and considered as the greatest architectural achievement in Europe during that period. This two night trip offers a rare opportunity to sleep within the ancient castle walls of one of these fearsome castles. Ancient Ruthin Castle was built for Edward I in 1277-1282, just before his mighty other iron ring castles at Conwy, Caernarfon, Harlech and Beaumaris, which are now UNESCO World Heritage sites.
