Three individually decorated luxurious suites, each with separate lounge and bedroom with its own quirky character and named after a personality associated with the castle:-
The Glyndwr
Named after Owain Glyndwr, probably the most renown of all Welsh nationalists and leader of the Welsh people. Glyndwr had several skirmishes with the De Grey family ofRuthin Castle and attacked and laid siege to Ruthin Castle. Upon failing to take it, he set fire to the town of Ruthin and left it burning. This is an exclusive and individual suite with draped bedhead, lounge and optional interconnecting second bedroom. Fully finished comfortably above Visit Wales 4 star standard, the master bedroom has adjoining exposed feature bath and separate shower & toilet room with slate character, The lounge also contains a sofa bed for occasional use. Views are over the castles pasture land and forestry.
The De-Grey
Named after the De Grey family who occupied Ruthin Castle for centuries from the 13th century. Reginald De Grey was reputedly the former Sheriff of Nottingham tasked with raising the finest army in the land to defeat the followers of Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest. His family controlled the lands around Chester and into Wales for centuries and his descendants included Lady Jane Grey who was Queen of England for just nine days. This is an exclusive and individual suite with draped bedhead, lounge and optional interconnecting second bedroom. Fully finished comfortably above Visit Wales 4 star standard, the master bedroom has adjoining exposed feature bath and separate shower & toilet room with slate character and includes bathrobes and slippers.
The lounge also contains a sofa bed for occasional use, Views are over the castles pasture land and forestry.
The Myddleton
Named after the Myddleton family of Chirk who, following demolition of much of Ruthin Castle by Act of Parliament after its owner, King Charles I was defeated in the Civil War, built the core of the current castle within the ruins of the ancient castle around two centuries ago. This paved the way for the next royal and rather scandalous era in the life of Ruthin Castle as Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) and the High society and Royalty with whom he associated, becam embroiled with the castle owners and reputedly made it "the centre of Edwardian Society outside London". This comfortable suite looks into the wooded area around the old moat with private slate character bathroom. Fully finished comfortably above Visit Wales 4 star standard the lounge also contains a sofa bed for occasional use.
