Memories of Ruthin

John Fredrick Rickman moved to Ruthin From Everton in 1849.

John held the position of Sheriff for the Cornwallis-West family at their other estate, Newlands Manor. While he worked at The Castle he met 'Elizabeth' and married her.

Elizabeth had been brought over from Ireland with Patsy and worked as the Head Housekeeper. John and Elizbeth had a daughter, Emily and sons, Thomas and Alfred. Thomas became Head Woodsman on the Estate; Alfred Head carpenter and Emily was a travelling companion for Patsy Cornwallis-West . Emily married Alfred Rickman and lived in a cottage called Park Cottage.

Their Grandson still lives in the same cottage and has amazing stories to tell.
