Spring Has Arrived!

Dafodils in bloom at Ruthin Castle

After a surprise late wintry blast in March,  it looks like we’re experiencing spring weather at last. It was lovely to see the Clwydian hills covered in a thick blanket of snow – I even managed to ski to my local pub one evening which was a real treat! Fabulous to see the Castle cherry trees were coming into spring flowers.  A lovely time of year – seeing the grounds wake up from their winter hibernation.

We’ve been very busy at the Castle preparing the Tafarn for its grand reopening this April. We’re thrilled with the brand new kitchen and the building has had a redecoration so exciting times when it reopens.

I’m looking forward to seeing all the herbaceous plants in the walled garden coming back into leaf. Hopefully they all survived as it was a cold one! Also the fish pond in the Italian Garden. Last year I planted some water lilies to provide some shelter for the fish. Hopefully they (and the fish!) will be thriving.

It will be great to see you at the Castle this Spring. Why not pop in and enjoy a drink, a snack, and a stroll round our fabulous grounds. Not just years of history to enjoy, but some fabulous flora & fauna as well. All welcome!
